What is the difference between STAMP monolingual and STAMP?

The STAMP Monolingual assessments include instructions, questions, and prompts all in the target language. It may be used to accurately assess proficiency of heritage speakers or in a bilingual or multicultural environment. In the latter case, learners should have an Intermediate Reading level, or above, in the testing language. The STAMP assessment was developed for learners of a second language and who have English skills at the Intermediate level or above.

What are the system requirements?

All of Avant’s testing products are compatible with most browsers and devices, including iPads (iOS version 12+) and Chromebooks, to give you more flexibility when testing.

When are the results available?

Avant STAMP Reading and Listening results are available online immediately, and the Writing and Speaking responses are rated by certified raters in 7-10 business days. Test results are never deleted so that programs can conduct detailed longitudinal analyses.

Do you have assessments for other languages?

STAMP Monolingual is currently available only in Arabic (see APT) and Spanish. We do offer many other assessments in different configurations and languages. Please visit our Sample Tests page to see the languages available for each type of assessment.

What assessments are available for learners under age 13?

The Arabic monolingual, known as the Arabic Proficiency Test (APT), has three grade bands with content adjusted appropriately for the age groups.

Avant also offers STAMPe or STAMP "elementary" for young learners, including those in dual-language and immersion programs. The content in the 4Se and other STAMPe configurations is appropriate for learners aged 12 and below.
