Language Proficiency 101 for Dual Language Immersion
This series presents DLI teachers with a guided opportunity to reflect on their own practice. Then, they will engage with their colleagues in discussion around their individual reflections. These modules go in-depth on the proficiency descriptors and modes of communication. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the proficiency levels, an introduction to scoring using proficiency rubrics, and providing feedback to learners. Participants will leave with a working knowledge of Avant’s scoring rubrics and guides for DLI teachers and learners.

Powering up Proficiency Through Effective DLI Engagement Strategies
In this virtual series, participants will focus on what DLI programs with strong language proficiency outcomes are doing. They’ll examine their own practices of engaging learners in using the language in all four skills (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking) and assessing language use for proficiency. Teachers will learn effective strategies, focusing on targeted DLI proficiency outcomes that allow learners to practice using the language every day in all subject areas. Between sessions, participants will reflect on and apply their new learning.

Sparking JOY: Engaging ALL Learners, ALL the Time in Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking, Through a Strong Learning Cycle in the DLI Classroom
In this interactive workshop, participants will collaborate, share and learn strategies they can take and use in their own DLI instructional practice. They’ll discover engagement tools that help develop language learners’ use of the target language in all four skills (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking). We’ll show participants how a strong learning cycle supports dual language learners through the stages of guided practice and independent language use. In addition, we’ll explore ways formative performance data informs instructional practices and decisions when collected from tasks and assessments. Come prepared to share and learn from each other!

Teacher Toolbox Series 2: Fundamentals of DLI 101
This is a comprehensive immersion program professional development series. The focus is on collaborative inquiry around core tenets and effective strategies integral to strong dual language immersion programs in grades K-5.
This package includes:
- Two, 2-hour virtual training sessions with the dual language immersion team at the beginning of the year
- Quarterly administrative advisement sessions
- Six online learning modules
- Licenses for each teacher to access the Avant MORE Learning online Canvas platform
- Training and resources accessible for one year (used for learning, reflection, and discussion between modules)
- Six monthly virtual check-in sessions
Format: Virtual
Timeframe: One year
Pricing: $7700-$9200 for up to 25 teachers. The Canvas platform seat license: $12/ participant (required).
